Heute hab ich endlich wieder einmal einen entzückenden Teddybären fertig gestellt; den ersten seit über einem Jahr. Neugierig? Na, vielleicht gibt´s morgen ein Foto davon:)

Einen Namen hätte ich ja schon für den süssen Kerl, aber ich veröffentliche ihn hier lieber nicht, zum Schluß werd ich exkommuniziert ;)))

My mom finally had her surgery today

After all the problems she had to go through before chritsmas, mom´s pacemaker acted up again last week, while I was in VA.
My dad lied to me, so I won´t come back home early, and she should have had a surgery last week, which was cancelled due to the fact, that the hospitale she was brought to had not taken in account her being allergic to latex.
So she was scheduked for yesterday, and guess what, the exactly same thing happened again!
She was quite nervous already and her surgery was rescheduled for today.
And it did happen. Finally. Gladly.
I am glad that she is in good shape now, and that finally her pacemaker was exchanged.

From one Mall...to the other

The Mall- starting at the Washington Monument and leading to the Capitol- is framed picturesquely by a lot of museums, all well worth visiting!

The other mall- Potomac Mills Mall- used to be a shoppers heavenly place on earth. Now, with so many shops closed down and so much junk in the stores, it is quite empty.
Sales all over the place, but hardly anyone who wants to buy. :((
It´s kinda sad to see, that the economy is not improving, even in a wealthy area like this, in a country, that always relied on people going out for shopping.
Also Springfield Mall was empty, even more shops closed down and hardly any customers.
I wonder, what´s happening to all those people, who did not earn a lot in the first place and got sacked...

The Air & Space Museum

Smashing! Not as scary as the RAF Museum in Hendon, UK, maybe because they don´t show you a bomber in special lights with the bomb doors open and the sound of dropping bombs...

...just the right place to be for me as a bone phobic;)
You would think! DANKE TOBI! Thanx to Tobias, my phobia was gone in an instant.
I even thought about touching the T-Rex skeleton since you can walk by so closely.
But then I had visions of me being held in prison for having torn down the skeleton with one single finger tip, and I have to admit, that´s not my favorite place to be;)
Gazillion of kids, and an african elephant welcome you at the entrance of the museum- that´s as far as I would have gotten in former times.
And here it goes: and I have been there!:)
A hall filled with nothing else but bones- apart from another gazillion kids.
The triceratops was the first I found:
Just opposite of the T-Rex ( Mark Bolan and "Ride A White Swan" comes to mind ) :

..and face to face ( can you imagine the odour out off a real T-Rex´s mouth???) looking down on me.
"I drive a rolls royce 'cos it's good for my voice But you won't fool the children of the revolution" ...I just love it...I should listen to T-Rex more often, their lyrics sure would do me some good;))

He looks the cuddliest of all dinosaurs- well, at least sort of;)

Ich kann nicht in Worte fassen, wie traurig ich bin.
Gestern, 24.August 2009 ging unsere vielgeliebte Morschi über die Regenbogenbrücke.
Wir sind furchtbar traurig, auch wenn wir wissen, dass sie jetzt keine Schmerzen mehr hat.
Der Weg, den unsere Kleinen mit uns gehen ist leider viel zu kurz .
Morschi, du bist unvergessen, du bist auf ewig in unseren Herzen.

I can´t find words to describe, how sad I am.
Yesterday, Aug 24th 2009 our beloved Morschi went across the rainbow bridge.
We are so terribly sorry, even though we know, that she does not suffer anymore.
The road, that we walk together with our loved pets is just so short.
Morschi, you are unforgotten, you have a spot on our hearts forever.

Der Hund der einfach da war

Wir haben uns Bonzo nicht ausgesucht, wir haben ihn nicht aus einem Tierheim befreit, wir hatten gar nicht mit ihm gerechnet gehabt.
Bonzo war einfach da, und er wollte eingelassen werden. Bonzo hat sein Schicksal selbst in die Pfoten genommen, nachdem ihn offensichtlich jemand über unseren Gartenzaun geworfen hatte.

Sein jämmerliches Gejaule und Gebell hatte uns auf ihn aufmerksam gemacht, Mittwochnacht so gegen Mitternacht.
Kein Mensch rechnet damit, dass er in seinem Garten ein Hundebaby findet, speziell wenn er durch einen hohen Zaun begrenzt ist, aber es gibt Dinge zwischen Himmel und Erde, die man sich nicht erklären kann. So auch Bonzos Ankunft bei uns.
Nachdem wir bereits seit Monaten abgewogen hatten, ob wir zu unserer 16-jährigen Morschi einen neuen Gefährten nehmen sollten, und aufgrund des nicht gerade guten Gesundheitszustandes meiner Mama uns gegen einen Hund entschieden hatten.
Mama war dann vor ca.2 Wochen für einige Tage ins Spital gekommen, und wurde am Montag fast quietschfidel wieder entlassen. Ich wollte aber nicht darauf drängen, einen Hund zu holen.

Kommt Zeit kommt Rat. Oder in diesem Falle besser: kommt Zeit, kommt Hund.
Ich hatte bei einer ungarischen Tierschützerin eine Menge Hunde kennengelernt, einen lieber als den anderen, sodass eine Entscheidung ohnedies nicht einfach war.
Mir war klar, dass mir ohnehin wieder ein Hund “passieren „ würde, aber so? Das hätte ich mir nie so vorgestellt!
Da war er also, dieser viel zu dünne, schwarze Zwerg, der sich hilfesuchend an René kuschelte und dessen Geschichte wir wohl nie erfahren werden.
Und dessen Ahnen eindeutig Rottweiler gewesen sein mussten.
René meinte im Nachhinein, dass ihm klar gewesen sei, dass der Hund bei uns bliebe, als meine Mutter ihm einen Namen gegeben hatte. Das war genau nach 2,5 Minuten passiertJ
Bonzo, das war ein Zeichentrickhund in den 30-er Jahren, der auch als Keramik und Porzellanhund verewigt worden war, so auch von Michael Wittmann aus der Werkstätte Piowitt.
Tja, da war er nun, der kleine schwarze Bonzo mit dem stumpfen Fell und den klar sichtbaren Rippen, fertig zum Einzug bei uns.

Die Polizei verwies mich an´s Tierschutzhaus, als ich nachfragen wollte, ob ein Hundchen verlustig gemeldet worden war. Naja, das war mir eigentlich ziemlich klar gewesen.
Auch dass am nächsten Tag die Tierärztin keinen Chip feststellen konnte.
Morschi stand zu dem Zeitpunkt der ganzen Geschichte noch relativ gelassen gegenüber, sie war niemals böse zu dem kleinen, zeigte ihm aber doch in den letzten Tagen ab und zu, dass er zu weit gegangen war mit seinem ungestümen Herumgehopse.
Die erste Nacht verbrachte er im Gegensatz zu uns auf Renés Pantoffel schnarchend bis fast 9:00. Wir beide sahen am nächsten Tag aus wie aus einem Zombifilm, war ich doch oft wach geworden, jedes Mal „ ein Rottweiler“ stammelnd, während René, der auch immer wach war, dazu kicherte.
Der nächste Tag brachte einen Besuch von Renés Eltern, die zu Mamas 70. Geburtstag angereist kamen.
Bonzo genoss die vielen Menschen, auch am Freitag bei der Feier war er gut drauf, schlief zwar unter der Bank im Lokal, sogar Popscherl an Popscherl mit Morschi, zeigte aber allen, was für ein braves Hundchen er doch war.

Samstag wollten wir gleich in die Hundeschule, damit aus unserem unverdorbenen, fröhlichen Hundebaby einmal ein wohlerzogener, fröhlicher Rottweiler würde. Die Tierärztin riet uns allerdings, zu seinem Wohle und aus Rücksicht auf die anderen Hunde, noch 2-3 Wochen zu warten, da Parvovirose ganz offensichtlich vermehrt auftritt, und viele Welpen dahinrafft.
„Sitz“, „hier“ und Lullimachen bringen wir schon ganz toll über die Bühne, und das sogar auf Befehl.
Die Nächte allerdings fand er zum Schlafen zu schade, was unsere Müdigkeit wesentlich verstärkte.
Nächtliche Pipi-geh-aktionen ( er meldet brav wenn er muss) wurden anschließend mit einer Spielstunde verschönt, was die Ringe unter unseren Augen wachsen lies.

Jetzt wohnt der Süße schon eine Woche bei uns, sein fell ist glänzend, und er ist ein fröhlicher Welpe. Heute hat sich Morschi erstmal von ihm zum Spielen auffordern lassen, hat dann aber im Eifer gleich übertrieben und wollte so richtig wild mit ihm spielen.
Wir wollten den Kleinen nicht überfordern, er soll sich ja nicht vor unserer Dackeloma fürchten!

We hadn´t chosen Bonzo, we hadn´t freed him from the dog pound, we hadn´t counted on him at all.
Bonzo was simply here, and he wanted to be let in. Bonzo had taken his fate in his own paws, after somebody had obviously thrown him over our fence.

His miserable howling and barking had drawn our attention, wednesday night at about midnight.
Nobody ever thinks about finding a puppy in their garden, especially, if there is a high fence around it, but there are things happening between heaven and earth, that leave us clueless.
Like Bonzo´s arrival here.
After months of pondering, if we should take in a mate for our 16 years old Morschi, but due to the not so positive health of my mom we had decided against a dog.
Mom had been hospitalized about 2 weeks ago and was released happily on Monday. Still, I didn´t want to preassure for a dog.

Time will tell, or rather: dog will tell.
I had met lots of dogs from a Hungarian lady who rescues dogs, one kinder than the other, so that a desition was not easy.
I knew, that a dog would happen to me again anyway, but not like this. I could never have imagined it!
So here he was, this much too thin, black midget, who cuddled up to René seeking for help and who´s story we probably never will find out.
And whos ancestors clearly were Rottweilers.
René said afterwards, that it was clear to him, that this dog would stay with us, when my mom had given him a name. This happened 2,5 minutes after we found him.
Bonzo, this was a cartoon in the 1930s, which also was immortalized in ceramics and china, also by Michael Wittmann from the workshop Piowitt
Here he was, the little black Bonzo with the blunt coat and the clearly viewable ribs, ready to move in with us.
The police referred me to the animal shelter when I checked if a dog had been reported missing. Well, this had been quite clear to me.
Also, when the next day the vet couldn´t find an identity chip.

Morschi at this point was still cool about this whole story, she never was mean to the little one, but did show him now and then when he went too far with his hasty bouncing.
The first night he spent- contrary to René and me- snoring on René´s slippers nearly until 9 am. We two looked like from a zombie movie the next day, I had woken up quite often, mumbling “ a rottweiler” while René, who also always woke up, giggled.
The next day his parents arrived for my mom´s 70th birthday.
Bonzo enjoyed the crowd, also Friday at the party he was great, slept a bit under the bench, bum to bum with Morschi, and showed everybody, what a good dog he is.
Saturday we wanted to go to the dog school, so that our pristine, happy puppy will be a well behaved happy rottweiler one day. The vet advised us to wait 2 or 3 weeks with respect to his health and the other dogs´health, since parvo virosis occurs increasingly and kills many puppies.
“Sit”, “here” and peeing happens quite smashingly, even on command.
It´s a pitty- he thinks-that nights are here for sleeping, which increases our tiredness.
Nightly peeing- actions (he tells when he needs to go) are followed by playing hours, which make the rings under our eyes grow.

Now the sweety pie lives with us for a week, his coat is now nice and shiny and he´s a happy puppy. Today Morschi for the first time played with him, but overdid it and wanted to play with him really wildly.
We didn´t want to overstrain Bonzo; after all he shouldn´t be afraid of our dachshund grandma!

Ja, das ist noch immer Faye, sie heisst nun Aiyana und lebt bei einer Traumfamilie in Deutschland.
Ist es nicht wundervoll, wie toll sie nun aussieht?
Unglaublich, was aus diesem armen Hund in Illatosut geworden ist!
Ich freu mich so für sie und ihre Familie und wünsche ihnen noch viele glückliche Jahre gemeinsam.

Die beiden Fotos zeigen Faye nach 3 oder 4 Tagen beim Tierarzt.
Dort kümmert man sich rührend um die Süsse, sie musste geschoren werden, da sie täglich Bäder hat, die ihre Hauterkrankung abheilen sollen.
Sobald dies geschehen ist, und wenn sich ihr Zustand gebessert hat, kann man ihren Uterus operieren.
Kriszta, die Dame, bei der sie zur Zeit in der Nähe von Budapest lebt, hofft, dass dies nächste Woche so weit sein wird.

These 2 pix show Faye 3 or 4 days after she arrived at the vet.
They affectionately take care of her there, she had to be shaved, because she has daily bathes to make her skin condition heal.
As soon as the skin is well again and her over all condition has improved, her uterus can be operated.
Kriszta, the lady where she is at now close to Budapest, hopes, that this might happen next week.

Armer Hund, was nun?/ Poor dog, what now?

Sofort stieg der Wunsch auf, diesem Hund zu helfen und ich fand heraus, dass "Lelenc" , eine der Tierschutzorganisationen, diese Hündin abgeholt hatte und zu einem Tierarzt gebracht hatte.
Lelenc hat dieser armen Kreatur einen Namen gegeben: FAYE.
Ganz offensichltich war ich nicht die einzige, die Faye berührt hatte und ihr helfen wollte, denn auf einer deutschen Tierhilfsseite, die Hunde aus Ungarn vermittelt, fand ich heraus, dass Faye bereits eine Patin hatte.
Faye ist eine Huskyhündin, was man aber aufgrund der Unterernährung nur erahnen kann.
Sie hat Demodikose, eine eitrige Uterusentzündung und ist generell in sehr geschwächtem Zustand.

I felt the immeidiate urge to help this dog and found out, that "Lelenc", one of the animal rescue groups, has taken the dog and brought her to a vet.
Lelenc has given this poor creature a name: FAYE.
Obviousely I was not the only one, who wanted had been touched by Faye and wanted to help her, because on the homepage of a German animal rescue group, that rehomes dogs from Hungary I found out, that Faye has a sponsor.
Faye is a female husky, which you can only guess due to her malnoutrision.
She has demodikosis, a sanious infection of the uterus and all in all is in very weak condition.

Vorige Woche fand ich die Homepage der Hundeauffangstation "Illatos út" in Budapest. Streunende oder ungewollte Hunde landen dort und werden im Falle von Streunern 14 Tage in Gewahrsam genommen, damit sie der Besitzer dort finden kann.
Alle, die nicht abgeholt werden, können solange dort bleiben, bis das Heim überfüllt ist, dann werden die, die schon am längsten dort sind, alt sind oder aggresiv eingeschläfert :(
Damit dies so wenig wie möglich Hunde betrifft, haben sich eine Menge Tierschützer zu verschiedenen Tierhilfsgruppen zusammengefunden und kaufen die Hunde frei, deren Chance auf Vermittlung gering sind: grosse Hunde, schwarze Hunde, aber natürlich auch andere.
Man findet auf der Seite des Hundeheimes http://www.illatosut.hu/ nur liebenswerte Hunde.
Aber ein Hund brachte mich regelrecht zum Weinen: zusammengekauert, ängstlich und ganz offensichtlich krank lag das arme Geschöpf in seinem Zwinger.

Stray and unwanted dogs end up there and, in case of strays, are kept for 14 days, so their owner is able to find them.
Those who are not picked up can stay there until the dog pound is cramped, then those who are there the longest, are old or aggressive are euthanised :(
To have this happen as little as possible many animal loving people gathered in different animal rescue groups to free dogs, who´s chances of rehoming are poor: bid dogs, black dogs, but of course also others.

The last day of 2007- time to review what I´ve learned this year.
I learned that:

mom was right when she told me to put on a hood when it´s cold outside,
cats can read the printing of the cat food can,
dads can also have a stroke, when they don´t belong to a high risk group,
dogs don´t live forever - sadly,
Adobe Photoshop is easier than I thought,
Adobe Photoshop is much harder than I thought,
for some people 40 degrees is too hot, but not for me,
for most people minus 10 degrees is not too cold, but for me,
a Smart does not fit into my car´s trunk,
extra ordinary cooks are not necessarily women,
a turkey can cause sleepless nights even when it´s still in the fridge ,
chicken soup is not only good for the soul,
a loving partner also listens to stories about nutters at 3am,
life is too short to savor bad chocolate,
time flies by in no time at all,
I´m, happy with my life and my love.

Let´s hope, that 2008 won´t be any worse, and I wish us all happiness, health, prosperity and peace.

Der letzte Tag des Jahres 2007- Zeit um zurück zu schauen auf das, was ich heuer gelernt habe.
Ich hab´gelernt, dass:
Mama recht hatte, als sie mir riet, eine Haube auf zu setzen, wenn´s draußen kalt ist,
Katzen die Beschriftung auf den Katzenfutterdosen lesen können,
Papis auch dann einen Schlaganfall haben können, wenn sie nicht zur Risikogruppe gehören,
Adobe Photoshop einfacher ist, als ich dachte,
Adobe Photoshop viel schwieriger ist, als ich dachte,
für manche Leute 40 °C zu heiß sind, aber nicht für mich,
für manche Leute -10°c nicht zu kalt sind, aber für mich,
ein Smart nicht in den Kofferraum meines Autos passt,
außergewöhnliche Köche nicht unbedingt weiblich sein müssen,
ein Truthahn auch schlaflose Nächte verursachen kann, wenn er noch im Eiskasten liegt,
Hühnersuppe nicht nur für die Seele gut ist,
ein liebender Partner sich Geschichten über Verrückte auch um 4h früh anhört,
das Leben zu kurz ist um schlechte Schokolade zu genießen,
die Zeit im Fluge vergeht,
ich glücklich bin mit meinem Leben und meiner Liebe.

Hoffen wir, dass 2008 nicht schlimmer wird, und ich wünsche uns allen Glück, Gesundheit, Erfolg und Friede.

In Memoriam Jancsi / In memory of Jancsi

15 Jahre lang war Jancsi der Schatten meines Vaters, aber am 3.Sep 2007 mußten wir Jancsi von seinem Leiden erlösen lassen. Kaum zur Welt gekommen, war er samt seinen Geschwistern weggeworfen worden. Glücklicherweise fand jemand die Kleinen und ich zog Jancsi mit der Flasche groß, unterstützt von meiner Schäferhündin Rifka. Er entwickelte sich zu einem ansehnlichen, lustigen Kerlchen, das allerlei Flausen im Kopf hatte und sich gut in das Rudel, das wir zwischenzeitlich hatten, einfügte. Leider ist der Weg, den wir mit unseren vierbeinigen Freunden gemeinsam gehen ein viel zu kurzer... Jancsi fehlt uns sehr.

15 years Jancsi was my dad´s shadow, but on Sep 3rd 2007 we had to have him put down.
Soon after his birth he and his siblings had been thrown away.
Luckily somebody found them and I bottle raised Jancsi, assisted by my german shepherd Rifka.
He grew to be a handsome, fun guy, with a lot of nonsense in his head and fitted right into the wee pack, that we had meanwhile.
Unfortunately, the road, that we walk together with our four legged friends is much too short...Jancsi is deeply missed.

A rainy summer saturday- so, what better idea can one have, than to visite a museum? Visite an aquarium!
Unfortunately, about 2 million others had the same idea, so there was huge crowd, but it was very interesting.
Built in a bunker from WW2 it houses thousands fish and snakes and grows nearly every year.

Ein regnerischer Samstag- also, was besseres kann einem da einfallen, als ein Museum zu besuchen? Ein Aquarium zu besuchen!
Leider hatten auch ca. 2 Mio andere diese Idee, drum war dor ein riesige Menschenmasse, es war aber trotzdem sehr interessant.
Eingebaut in einen FLakturm aus dem 2. Weltkrieg beheimatet es tausende Fische und Schlangen und wächst beinahe jedes Jahr.

Tihany used to be a small, quiet place on Lake Balaton; when we visite it 2 weeks ago it was covered with tourists. Gazillions of people causing traffic jams on foot :).
I managed to get some pictures of the places, where they produce and sell ceramics. Enjoy.

Tihany war ein kleiner, ruhiger Ort am Plattensee; als wir vor 2 Wochen dort waren, war er voll Touristen. Gazillionen von Menschen, die ein Verkehrschaos zu Fuß verursachten:).
Es gelang mir einige der Häuser zu fotografieren, wo Kerkamiken hergestellt und verkauft werden. Viel Spaß.

Wie fühlt sich ein Blog, der seit Wochen vernachlässigt wird? Wenn er keine Neuigkeiten erfährt, und sich zu Tode langweilt?
Naja, dieser arme Blog kennt dieses Gefühl.
Leider!
Ich bin meinem Blog eine Rechenschaft schuldig, und euch auch.
Ich habe mir etwas überlegt, um euch alle dafür zu entschädigen und ich hatte da eine Idee eines Quizes:
Vor ein paar Wochen fing ich mit einem Project an, das- ja, ihr habt Recht- noch nicht fertig ist, da mein Zeitmanagement pleite ging.
Also, hier ist es:
Ich zeige euch ein Foto von etwas, an deem ich zu arbeiten anfing, und ihr erratet, was es mal wird, wenn es fertig ist.
Wer immer als Erster hier in diesem Blog richtig errät, was es wird, gewinnt eine ATC ( Artist Trading Card, nicht Another Terrific Car; ich stelle kein Auto zur Verfügung;)) mit dem Foto von genau diesem Projekt darauf.
Bitte um Geduld beim Herausfinden, ob ihr Recht habt oder nicht, ich denke, es wird nicht vor Ende August fertig sein.

Well, this poor blog does know this feeling.
Unfortunately!
I owe a big apology to my blog and to you, who reads it.
I thought about a way of compensating y´all for this and I came up with the idea of a quiz:

Some weeks ago I started a project, which- yes, you´re right- is not finished yet, since my time management has gone bankrupt.
OK, so here goes:
I´ll show you a fotograph of something I started to work on and you guess, what it´s going to end up as.
The first one here in this blog, who guesses it correctly, wins an ATC (artist trading card, not ANOTHER TERRIFIC CAR; I won´t provide a car ;)) with this very object, completet, fotographed on it.

Meine Katze, eine wahre Diva, lebt im Haus. Ich lasse sie nicht unkontrolliert hinaus, da wir in der Nähe einer stark befahrenen Straße wohnen und einem Haufen gehirnamputiertem Abschaums, der Tiere vergiftet oder sie quält.
Vor ein paar Wochen traf ich bei der Tierärztin einen Mann, der nicht weit von uns wohnte, und dessen Partnerin eine freundliche Perserkatze hatte, die Freigängerin war.
Eines Tages verschwand das Kätzchen und die Dame mußte der Tatsache ins Auge sehen, dass ihre Katze zusammengebunden und als Fußball auf dem geschlossenen Mc Donald´s Parklatz verwendet worden war von diesen unglaublich schlechten Menschen. Ich muß nicht hinzufügen, daß das arme Kätzchen nicht überlebt hat.

Seit 2 Tagen fehlt nun mein Fellmonster; sie muß wohl während der Nacht entwischt sein. Einer sehr stürmischen und heißen Nacht, muß ich hinzufügen.
Mein Partner und ich haben die Nachbarschaft durchsucht, ihren Namen rufend: Kissy, oder Kisskiss ( haben sie eine Vorstellung, wie dämlich man sich fühlt, wen man herum wandert und KISSKISS ruft?)
René hat Suchanzeigen ausgedruckt, die wir an Lichtmasten in der Gegend anbrachten und in die Briefkästen warfen.
Kissys Züchterin in Deutschland erzählte mir, daß die beste Zeit, um vermisste Tiere zu suchen, um 3:00 früh sei. Grade richtig für mich, nachdem ich um 1:30 morgens aus dem Dienst komme.
Also wanderten wir letzte Nacht herum mit ihrem Spielzeug, daß wie ein kleines Vögelchen zwitschert.
Keine Spur von Kissy, aber ein Igel tauchte auf, offensichtlich hatte er gedacht, er könne ein kleines schwaches Vögelchen fangen.

I wette, Kissy wollte bloß ein bißchen Spaß, und wenn ich wüßte, daß es ihr gut geht, wär ich mehr als glücklich, und ich bete für ihre gesunde Rückkehr.

In den letzten Wochen hatte ich Schlafprobleme, war wieder munter zwischen 4:00 und 5:00 weil mein Hündchen beschloß, daß die Nacht vorbei sei und ich bin einfach erschöpft.
Ich denke mal, dass jemand auf Drogen sich so fühlen muß, wie ich nun, mein Leben geschieht einfach und ich kann nicht mithalten.
Darum freue ich mich schon auf eine Woche in Ungarn nächste Woche, obwohl ich überlegte, diesen Urlaub auch zu stornieren.
Dann wiederum dachte ich, es hilft niemandem, oder schon? Ich hab nicht die leiseste Ahnung...

Lost cat

My cat, which is a real diva, is used to living indoors. I don´t let her out unsupervised, because we have a busy street close by and a couple of brain damaged scum, who poison animals, or torture them.
A few weeks ago I met a man at the vet, who used to live not far from us, and who´s partner had a very kind persian cat, that she let run free. One day kitty disappeared and the lady had to face the terrible truth, that her cat had been tied together and used as a soccer ball at Mc Donald´s closed parking lot by some unbelievably bad people. I don´t need to add, that poor kitty did not survive.

Since 2 days my furry monster is missing; she must have escaped somehow during the night. A very stormy and hot night, I have to add.
My partner and I have been searching the neighbourhood, calling her name: Kissy, or Kisskiss ( can you imagine how silly you feel, walking around shouting KISSKISS?)
René had printed want ads which we stuck to lamp posts around here and dropped in the mail boxes.
Kissy´s breeder in Germany told me, that the best time to search for a missing animal is 3:00 am. Just right for me, after I come home from work at 1:30.
So, last night we went around with her toy, which squeaks like a wee birdy.
No trace of Kissy, but a hedgehog showed up, obviousely he had imagined, that he could catch a weak little bird.

I bet, Kissy just wanted to have some fun, and if I knew that she´s ok, I would be more than happy, and I pray for her save return.

In all these last weeks I had a hard time sleeping, was up again between 4:00 and 5:00 am because my dog had descided, that the night was over and I just feel worn out.
I guess, somebody on drugs must feel like I feel now, my life just happens and I can´t get hold of it.
So I´m looking forward to a week in Hungary next week, even though I thought about cancelling this vacation as well.
Then again I thought, it won´t help anybody, or does it? I have not the slightest clue...

I have to admit, I was not as much a fan of the Marx Brothers during my childhood, as I am now.
Their twisted chaotic humor just hits you right between the eyes.
Groucho Marx was the brother, with the longest movie and TV presence, left us some quotes that still make me shiver…from laughter.

Dad after his stroke

It´s now more than a month since my dad was rushed to hospital with a stroke.
Hundreds of never ending hours of fear, anxiety and worry have passed, and dad is now in rehab the second week.
He had started talking german already in hospital, where Mom & I were able to visite him daily.
Now out there we can only visite him on weekends- he´s too busy with all sorts of treatments and trainings and he complaines, that it´s going on too slowly.
He´s not somebody who´d just sit and wait, he´d rather be out there walking on his own than carefully wobbling around a table.
This is him still in hospital.

And that´s my dad 2 days ago.
For a 78 years old Rumpelstiltskin he looks smashing :)
I think mom should not worry so much about him and what´s going to happen- he´ll be fine.

One of my friends, holding one of my teddies, once asked me, how I design my teddies.
Well, I said, after the archetype of the man of my dreams:

A huge nose, so he can always smell what I desire,
Elefantous ears, so he cannot overhear anything,
A gigentic belly to cuddle up to,
Really long huggable arms,
Montrous feet, so nothing can knock him over and
Short legs, so he cannot run away from me.

Funnilly enough: when he stepped into my life, I did not recognize the man of my dreams from his physical attributes but the characteristics I connected to each attribute. :))

Eine Freundin hielt einmal einen meiner Teddies und fragte mich, wie ich meine Teddies kreiere.
Hmmm, meinte ich, nach dem Vorbild meines Traummannes:

eine enorme Nase, damit er immer riechen kann, was ich grade begehre,
elefantöse Ohren, damit er nichts überhört,
einen gigantischen Bauch zum Kuscheln,
wirklich lange Arme zum Festhalten,
monströse Füße, damit ihn nichts umhaut und
kurze Beine, damit er mir nicht davon laufen kann.

Lustig nur: als mein Traummann in mein Leben trat erkannte ich ihn nicht an seinen äusseren Eigenschaften sondern an den damit verbundenen Charakteristika. :))

Let´s start with the chimney sweeper: I guess y´all know the luck bringing meaning of a chimney sweeper- well, this seams to be the reason, why he is attached to the house of the class lottery in the first district.

I´ve been browsing the net, but cannot find any particular reason for his being there. If I ever find out, I´ll let you know.

Taking the picture of the chimney sweeper I stood on a short bridge and turning to the left I took the second picture down to the road underneath.

This lovely building is the Hotel Orient.

It is one of these hotels, where they charge by the hour, but still very noble and most of all: not cheap. I´ve never been there, but I know, that some people just die from curiosity and spend a night there with their loved one. It´s obviously hip to have spent a night there; gives one the certain tingle of thinking, that one did something a wee bit on the naughty side

The white house with the golden décor is one in a row of houses in the “Linke Wienzeile”. There are so many, that it really makes sense to go there again and make a whole series just about these houses, built during art deco, art nouveau and fin de siecle.

I didn´t have enough time; we were on the way back from the biggest and probably oldest market: the “Naschmarkt” which is an adventure in itself.

We bought loads of different nuts, dried fruit, vegetables and I was introduced to wasabi- nuts. Wow! Nuts covered in the green, hot Japanese veggie…ho-o-otttt!

The lovely filigree building on top of the hill is the “Gloriette”, viewed from the “Schloss Schönbrunn” , which nowadays houses a café with amazing view and delicious cakes.

Both beautiful sights were built in the 18^th century when Empress Maria Theresia ruled the vast empire and it is said, that there is a secret underground corridor between these two.

The craftsmen ship and the love to details is overwhelming, the creativity of the builders astounding!

The delightful flower arrangements still follow baroque patterns and this figure shows Diana, goddess of the hunt, who watches next to “Schloss Schönbrunn”.

The little red huts are wagons on the “Riesenrad” the giant ferris wheel in the Prater.

You can tell, that I love taking pix from unusual angles...

René and I took a ride on it, me frantically taking pix of the area ( like the next, which shows Vienna to the north east, with a view of the UN- building) and bubbling away about the sights and everything was fine until we reached the highest point and the wagon stopped. *Gulp*

I had been on it as a child and half grown up without problems. But that day I had to sit down and René tried hard to get my mind off the idea, that I was in a flying red wagon on the way to mars.

Boy, was I happy to step on firm ground again!

Here´s an impression of the ferris wheel behind a roller coaster while the sun went down, followed by the closed toboggan, where people would slide down on a bag. Somehow the wooden building became dangerous, was closed down and rottens away charmingly until it will be replaced by a modern gambling hall or something like that.

Toboggan reminds me of Billy Connolly, when he tells the story of how queer it sounds, if somebody says, that he is a tobaggonist ;))

The huge wale is the entrance to a Prater restaurant, “Zum Walfisch” – in English: The Whalefish. It is old, very old, dates back to the time, when whales were still regarded as fish.

Danube Island- built about 30 years ago to save Vienna from being flooded. It is partly natural and partly covered with restaurants, bars and discos, and is flooded during summer by Viennese, tourists and gazillions of moscitos and well known Europe- wide for it´s yearly Danube Island Festival.

We went to a safari dinner about a month ago, which was held in the yellow round building on the next foto.

It´s situated right in the middle of the zoo, and used to be the breakfast pavillion of the emperor.

Before this dinner we had a night guided tour after the zoo was closed for visitors, which was exciting itself, and then was followed by a masterpiece of an Austrian chef, who cooked with a tendency to African cuisine.

I´ll finish my little tour with some pix from the interiour of the pavillion: the gentleman on the oil painting is Emperor Kaiser Franz Josef I in his younger years. He ruled the empire from 1830-1916 and was married to Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sisi, who you might have heard of.

It hadn´t happen in quite some time, but since 3 days I´m cought in a migraine.
My head is in a spin, my thoughts are and so am I- byebye!
To say it with a quote from Dr. Seuss :
“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the things you can think up if only you try!”

Ideas of how to get rid of it are very welcome:)

Das ist ein gutes Beispiel dafür, was mein Teddy so treibt, während ich nicht zusehe. Kein Wunder, dass ich ihn überall suchen muss :))

Schlaganfall / Stroke

Im Moment liegt mir dieses Thema sehr am Herzen, da ja mein Papa vor einem Monat einen Schlaganfall hatte.
Meine Mama hat damals sehr rasch reagiert und sofort die Rettung verständigt; wahrscheinlich hat ihm das das Leben gerettet.
Beim Stöbern im Internet fand ich umfangreiche Infos zu diesem Thema, und da niemand davor gefeit ist, ist es mir ein Bedürfnis, die möglichen Kennzeichen eines Schlaganfalles allen die es lesen wollen oder auch nicht, nahe zu bringen:

Plötzliche Schwäche oder Lähmung einzelner Körperteile, wie Arm, Gesicht oder Beine, vor allem bei halbseitigem Befall
Plötzliche Taubheit/Pelzigkeit von Körperteilen wie Arm, Gesicht oder Beine, vor allem bei halbseitigem Befall
Plötzlich auftretende Sprachstörung (verwirrte, erschwerte oder Fehlersprache, mangelndes Sprachverständnis)
Plötzliche Sehstörung an einem oder beiden Augen
Plötzliche Störung des Ganges mit Störung des Gleichgewichtes und/oder Koordinationsstörungen

Wenn auch nur einer dieser Punkte zutrifft: so schnell wie möglich die Rettung allarmieren!

Since my dad hat a stroke about a month ago, this issue is keeping me busy. My mom reacted quickly, and most probably saved his life by calling the ambulance immediately.
Browsing the net I found heaps of information, and because none of us is immune to this, I want to point out the symptoms of a stroke to whoever wants to read it or not:

Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg (especially on one side of the body)
Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
Sudden severe headache with no known cause

If you believe someone is having a stroke – if he or she suddenly loses the ability to speak, or move an arm or leg on one side, or experiences facial paralysis on one side – call an ambulance immediately.
